    Scrambled eggs in a flour tortilla, smothered with chile and cheese. Pantry fries or beans.

  • Huevos rancheros

    A corn tortilla topped with two eggs, chile and cheese. Pantry fries and beans.

  • Chicken fried steak

    Smothered with country gravy, or New Mexico style with chile and cheese.

  • Carne adovada

    Pork slow-cooked in red chile and spices, with beans and rice.

It started at the edge of town.

In 1948 George Myers opened a little café on Cerrillos Road, next to the El Rey motor court on old Route 66. That was the very edge of Santa Fe. The town grew out around it, and the counter stayed put.
